Cost-Plus Sourcing

This year Asda will be the first retailer to convert its entire fleet of trucks to bio-fuel. We have already successfully trialled a 5% bio-fuel mix with a number of lorries based in our Wakefield depot and we are now going to roll this out to all our 24 depots across the UK by the end of 2006. That's four years ahead of new legislation coming into force.

The bio fuel is produced
using rapeseed grown by
farmers in the North East
of England.
